5th Class News
Fáilte go Rang a Cúig
On February of this year, 3rd - 6th classes entered the Limerick Festival of Church Music Competition. Guess what??? We came second. We sang Sing Alleluia and The Lord is My Light. It was a great day out. Check out the songs on the video page.
This year we entered the Active Schools competition again. We devoted one week to sports. John Galvin did Basketball with us, John Coyle for Golf, Brian Begley for Camogie and we also did pilates, football, hip hop, gymnastics, athletics, karate and much much more. We filmed everything and we sent a project off to the Active Schools Competition. We recently got the results back and we won the most active school in Munster for the second year in a row. On May 15th, we are going up to the Helix in Dublin to receive our prize of €4,000 for the school.
At the moment we are planting potatoes as it is The National Year of the Potato. We got special potato bags to plant them in. Joe, our gardener, bought compost and we keep them in our glass porch. Everyday, we go down to check on them, measure them, water them and keep a record of their progress. It is great fun.
On Friday 25th, Helena and Shanon went to LIT for the second heat of the K*Nex Challenge. The challenge was to make a modern camera and a rotating stand in one hour out of K*Nex pieces. They got on very well and had a very enjoyable day.
At the moment, we ar enjoying golf lessons after school with John Coyle. We are also going to the pitch and putt course in Adare which is so excellent!!!We also do camogie after school with Ms. Lavin. She is a great coach!!
We have also raised a fantastic amount of money for the school by doing a Sportathon where we skipped, hula hooped, cycled, walked and learned a dance routine to High School Musical. It was a brilliant and tiring day.
